AGP Anniversary Party

HAPPY 10th Anniversary Artscape Gibraltar Point!

Recognize 10 years of vibrancy, inspiration, and creativity, and 100 years of history with a donation to Artscape Gibraltar Point. If that’s not reason enough, here are 10 reasons to give TODAY:

1.IMMEDIATE IMPACT

You’ll see your dollars at work. Like most historic properties, Artscape Gibraltar Point requires regular maintenance, and this inspirational artists’ retreat is now in need of some urgent capital repairs. The money you donate will be used for capital repairs on Artscape Gibraltar Point that will allow us to continue to operate for years. Your donation will have a tangible effect. Donate now

2. ROCK ON

Your favourite tunes were created at Artscape Gibraltar Point. Did you know that Gord Downey, lead singer of the Tragically Hip, recorded his second solo album, Battle of the Nudes, at the Gas Station on Toronto Island in 2001? The album was produced by Gord Downie and Dale Morningstar, with Dave Clark & Josh Finlayson. Juno nominated album, Destination Unknown, was also recorded at the Gas Station by Ron Sexsmith & Don Kerr, along with a number of other amazing albums! Donate now

3. PRESERVE HISTORY

Your donation will preserve an important part of the Island’s heritage and an inspiring affordable retreat for artists and creative thinkers. This building has a rich past, and holds significant meaning and memories for many individuals and groups. Many individuals and groups worked together to save this former Toronto Island school from destruction, and you can ensure that this treasure remains in good condition for years to come. Donate now

4. SUPPORT IMPORTANT WORK

Your donation will allow Artscape to build upon 10 years of support for artists and not-for-profit organizations. Over 800 artists have created work at Artscape Gibraltar Point and over 600 not-for-profit organizations have convened to host events, or build their organizational capacity. By ensuring that artists and organizations continue to have a peaceful, inspirational place to think and work, your dollars will facilitate the creation of hundreds of new pieces of Canadian art, and enable the good work of many more not-for-profits. 5. JUST ASK ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION

You want to know that your hard-earned money is supporting a worthy cause.

OTF’s 25th Anniversary Great Grants Awards highlighted the achievements of 25 organizations from more than ten thousand groups that have received Foundation grants over the past 25 years. Artscape Gibraltar Point was one of 25 projects recognized for demonstrating excellence, innovation and leadership in building healthy communities across the province.

Ontario Trillium was one of Artscape Gibraltar Points original funders in 1999. With the help of an OTF $150,000 grant over three years, Artscape transformed the school into a world renowned centre for artists from Ontario, Canada and afar. Donate now

6. SUPPORT YOUR CITY

Artscape projects have been catalysts for the regeneration of some of Toronto’s most vibrant and creative neighbourhoods. You can support a local organization that is contributing to Toronto’s urban landscape and establishing a national, and international reputation. Artscape Gibraltar Point has attracted artists from across Canada, and all over the world including the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Slovakia, Australia, and Japan! Donate now

7. SPAIN IS FAR AWAY

Because otherwise you'd have to travel to Spain to see Gibraltar, and that's way more costly than a little ole' donation.

There is no other artist’s retreat that operates close to the downtown core while feeling miles away from the city. This centre makes it easy and affordable for artists to get away for a short period to concentrate on their art, and work in a creative community with peer support. Donate now

8. CASH IN YOUR POCKET NEXT APRIL

Remember that you have until Dec. 31 to make a donation and get a deduction on April's tax bill. Donate now

9. GIVING INDUCES PLEASURE

Believe it or not, donating to charity helps stimulate the regions of the brain associated with pleasure, according to a study published in the magazine Science by scientists and economists at the University of Oregon. Donate now

10. BE AN ORIGINAL

Become part of a movement made up of a diverse group of people who have found common interest in building creative, vibrant and resilient communities. Donate now
